This slave cylinder fits directly inside our Duratec Engine to Ford Gearbox Hydraulic Clutch Bellhousing. For use with a 0.625 inch (5/8″) master cylinder.
Dimension from the bearing face to the back face of the alloy casting is 60mm. Please enquire if you are looking to fit the longer 70mm slave cylinder in applications other than the Duratec installation.
Please note that when using either lengths for applications other than the Duratec installation, the slave cylinder must be in a partially compressed form when installed. Fitment of the slave cylinder in the extended state will result in the bearing being forced off the end of the inner shaft when the clutch is depressed. When used in a custom installation please check the actuation of the slave cylinder over the entire clutch pedal stroke.
The slave cylinder and bearing work in a different way to a manual installation in that the release bearing is in constant light contact with the clutch diaphragm fingers. This is achieved by an internal spring within the thrust bearing. There is no need to be concerned that the release bearing is in contact with the diaphragm at all times.
Note:It is necessary to shorten the original thrust bearing tube and substitute the original bolts for the longer ones supplied. See the fourth picture for an illustration of how to achieve this. There is no need to disturb the front gearbox bearing.

Bleed 8 x 1.25mm thread pitch
Centre of the release bearing where the input shaft passes through = 28.5mm diameter.
Bearing outer diameter = 58mm
